The Cookie Jar: Controversial Topics |
|
Why are there four Gospels and do they contradict each other? The reason there are four Gospels explains the four-sided portrait of Christ. This is described in Revelation 4:7, where each creature portrays Christ of how He is pictured in each Gospel. The "lion" is how He is pictured in Matthew, as the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the King of the Jews. The "calf" is how He is pictured in Mark, as the servant of God. That's what a calf is known for, which is service and humility. The "man" represents how He is pictured in Luke, as the Son of Man. The "flying eagle" is how He is pictured in the Gospel of John, as the Son of God. The "flying eagle" represents deity. The four Gospels harmonize one another. |
