THE WORLD IS A CULT

by James S. Hodges

There’s something I find intriguing to me
In our modern day
It appears to me that the world is a cult
In its own deceitful way

For a cult consists of people and principles
Highly devoted they all may seem
Then claim they are not fanatics
As though they’re living in a dream

The world claims no religion
Crying separation of church and state
It says there is no truth
Calling it crimes of hate

But it does have its own philosophy
And has made many to believe
Declaring you to be an outcast
If its philosophy you don’t receive

It tries to deny the existence of God
Because He is the higher power
With flaming eyes and a two-edged sword
The world He’ll soon devour

But then the world says to believe in God
Just not on a regular basis
And it’s okay to get drunk and fornicate
As long as you’re not a racist

If only the world would realize
It’s not about the color of skin
The fact is there’s a holy God
And unto Him we’ve committed sin

Love not the world and the things in the world
Is the sound of God’s command
The whole world lieth in wickedness
So as Christians we must take a stand

Yes, my friend, the world is a cult
Although it does not claim
But it does say that it is a “culture”
To me those words are the same
